Wingstop spreads in Philadelphia

April 11, 2012

Wingstop has announced that the company has signed a development agreement that will result in eight new restaurants in the Philadelphia area.

Philadelphia native Richard Johnson of Jomartt Enterprises, L.P., has signed a multi-unit development agreement and expects to open his first location this winter. He also is a former McDonald's franchisee.

“I was attracted to the idea of a wing place that would be a local, neighborhood spot, where people can get really good wings,” Johnson said. “I started doing my research and was impressed with how the Wingstop brand works. We tried the food and kept going back for more. I loved how fresh the food was and the variety of sauces.”

With a sole focus on cooked-to-order chicken, the Wingstop menu features traditional and boneless wings, strips and the chain’s newest offering – Glider sandwiches – all sauced and tossed in 10 flavors.

“After I visited the Wingstop corporate office in Dallas, I was impressed with how friendly the people were, and realized I could see myself as part of the team,” Johnson said. “Plus, I like that it’s still a fairly new company that’s expanding. Wingstop is really just starting out in the Northeast and I wanted to be involved in a concept I can help promote and grow.”

Johnson’s development agreement includes Philadelphia and Montgomery counties.
