Wingstop hits seven straight years of comps increases

July 7, 2010

National wing chain Wingstop has ended its second quarter of the year with its 28th consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales. Sixteen-year-old Wingstop has announced that same-store sales for the first two quarters of 2010 are up 1.5 percent over 2009.

"That we have been able to achieve steady, positive growth when so many concepts are struggling says a lot about our franchisees, our staff and the loyalty of our guests. We would like to thank them all for helping us reach this huge milestone," said Jim Flynn, Wingstop CEO.

Ninety-five percent of the 447 Wingstop stores across the U.S. and Mexico are franchisee owned and operated and the chain plans to open 50 more franchise locations this year, including the first store in New York and additional restaurants in Mexico, Chicago and Kansas City.

"We're proud of so many of the achievements in our system," Flynn said. "From opening new stores, to our dedicated, focused menu of chicken wings, to expanding internationally. But above all else, we are proud to continue our positive comp store sales streak. When our comp sales are up that means our franchisees, the backbone of our company, are doing well. As a franchisor that's the best news we can receive."
