Wingstop domestic same-store sales up by 6.5 percent in Q4

Wingstop reported today that its domestic same-store sales increased 6.5 percent for the fiscal fourth quarter of 2018, as compared with last year's Q4.  

"Our momentum continued in the fourth quarter with 51 gross openings, a healthy pipeline of 523 domestic restaurant commitments, and same-store sales growth of 6.5 percent for the year, marking 15 consecutive years of some of same-store sales growth," chairman and CEO Charlie Morrison said in a company press release. “As we look to 2019, we remain focused on executing against our vision of building Wingstop into a top 10 global restaurant brand by increasing our brand awareness and continuing to innovate through technology, driving best-in-class unit economics, and expanding our global footprint."

Other highlights included:

  • System-wide restaurant count increased 10.5 percent to 1,252 worldwide locations with 51 gross openings and 37 net openings.
  • Company-owned restaurant same store sales increased 4.6 percent.
  • System-wide sales increased 15 percent to approximately $328 million.

Highlights for fiscal year 2018 compared with fiscal year 2017:

  • Net 119 openings.
  • Domestic same-store sales up 6.5 percent.
  • Company-owned restaurant same-store sales up 6.2 percent.
  • System-wide sales up 16 percent to approximately $1.3 billion.

Wingstop has 1,124 restaurants in the United States, of which 1,095 are franchised and 29 are company-owned, as well as 128 international franchised restaurants in nine countries.
