Wayback Burgers continues growth spurt through Q3

November 8, 2018

Q3 at Wayback Burgers was all about growth, according to the company that reported several restaurant openings across the globe. After a busy second quarter in which the the Cheshire, Connecticut-based chain expanded its reach into Canada, Asia and Europe, the brand extended its worldwide footprint in Q3 by:

  • Opening a second location in the DHA district in Lahore, Pakistan.
  • Adding a second location in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • Opening a location in Salmiya, Kuwait.
  • Introducing a Wayback Burgers food cart to the market in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
  • Signing a lease for a restaurant in Breda, The Netherlands.
  • Concluding a Master Franchise agreement with a new owner in British Columbia, Canada.

"We're becoming a household name in more corners of the world," Wayback Burgers EVP Bill Chemero said in a company release about the chain, which has about 150 total locations. "That is because we have earned a worldwide reputation for the best burgers and the best service.  This reputation, earned by our phenomenal master franchisees in corners all over the world, has sparked rapid international development as we continue to grow fast in multiple states across the US."

U.S. growth

In the U.S., Wayback Burgers opened restaurants in Milford, Delaware; Reno, Nevada; and Irving, Texas. The Irving location is the first in Wayback Burgers' domestic network with a new building design.

The chain also awarded seven U.S. franchises in Q3 2018, with 19 more under construction. In addition, four lease signings stretched across the country, in Broadview Heights, Ohio; San Antonio, Texas; Daytona Beach, Florida; and Fresno, California.

The company expects to sign more than a dozen leases and award even more domestic and international franchise locations in Q4, Chemero said.

"We're also setting ourselves up for what promises to be another great year of growth in 2019," he said.
