VooDoo BBQ testing new prototype

February 24, 2014

VooDoo BBQ & Grill opened its 17th location on Feb. 9 in Hollywood, Fla. In March, the company plans to open additional locations — one in Boca Raton, Fla., and one in Kenner, La..

This will bring the concept's total number of locations to 19, with 10 to 15 more planned in the next 12 months, according to a news release.

VooDoo BBQ & Grill also plans to test a new store prototype with design features that include an open kitchen, which allows guests to watch their food be prepared in front of them. This prototype will be tested in the Kenner, La., location.

"We are always looking for new and efficient ways to serve our guests, and this prototype will give us insight to better do so," said company president Glen Helton said in the release. "We look forward to providing our guests with a different experience and design as we open in Kenner."

The brand will also add new menu items at the prototype restaurant, including Red Beans & Rice with Smoked Sausage, BBQ Jambalaya, BBQ Oysters, Cajun BBQ Chicken, White Chocolate Bread Pudding and Beignets.

"Our new menu items are a great addition to our New Orleans-style food, said Tony Avila, CEO of VooDoo BBQ & Grill. "We expect them to be popular with our guests and hope to eventually offer them in all VooDoo locations."
