New Orleans-style restaurant VooDoo BBQ & Grill announced the opening of its first Pensacola, Florida, location.
The new unit, the chain's 20th, is located in University Town Center at the corner of Nine Mile Road and University Parkway.
“We are very excited to open in Pensacola with local residents and franchisees Rick and Sylvana West,” said Glen Helton, President of VooDooBBQ, in a company press release. “This opening marks a milestone in which we have doubled the size of our company in the past 24 months.”
The University Town Center location is the first of three restaurants that will open in the Pensacola area. All three locations will be built by the Wests. The company also has 37 locations in the development pipeline, with plans to grown the franchise to 300 or more locations in the next five years.
The restaurant design features an open kitchen layout and the menu features brisket, pork and chicken, along with red beans and rice with smoked sausage, Gris Gris Greens, corn pudding, sweet potato soufflé, BBQ jambalaya and French Quarter style beignets.
In celebration of the new restaurant, VooDoo BBQ & Grill will host a grand opening celebration on Nov. 15 beginning at 11 a.m. Jazz band The New Orleans Ramblers will be on-hand as well as caricature and face painting artists, jugglers and balloon artists. A hot rod drive-in is planned for late in the afternoon.
