Dallas-based Velvet Taco will begin welcoming customers to its second Atlanta location next week in The Interlock at 1115 Howell Mill Road.
"It is a great honor to have Velvet Taco open doors in The Interlock in West Midtown, where the restaurants are known to heavily exceed the industry standard and guests have high expectations," Velvet Taco CEO Clay Dover said in a company press release. "It is our mission to take the humble, well-loved taco and use the tortilla as a blank canvas for any courageous, adventuring foodie's desires."
The store, which features bright and rustic furnishings with indoor seating for 75 and a covered patio for 33, is Velvet Taco's 25th location and showcases the brand's staple painting of Marie Antoinette eating red velvet cake. It also features one-of-a-kind, hand-painted murals, including an interactive mural on the patio and a mural paying tribute to the historic Interlock train system designed by Eyeful Art. Guests who visit The Interlock location can take advantage of the walk-up pickup window for orders placed in advance through the Velvet Taco app or website.
"As someone who lives in the city, I have watched the West Midtown neighborhood grow into a high intensity, exhilarating place full of all types of people looking for a new experience," General Manager Tanesha Blake said in the release. "Including Velvet Taco in The Interlock's notable restaurant lineup is like adding a missing puzzle piece."
The original Atlanta restaurant is located in Buckhead at 77 West Paces Ferry Road NW.
