Veggie Grill takes on Berkeley, California

September 20, 2018

Veggie Grill opened its first Berkeley, California, location last week and celebrated by making a $1,000 donation to the Berkeley Student Food Collective, a non-profit and collective grocery store that helps make healthy and sustainable products more affordable and accessible to the Berkeley campus and greater community.

"We are happy to launch a restaurant in the Berkeley neighborhood to add to our Northern California presence,"  Veggie Grill CEO Steve Heeley, said in a company press release. "The city of Berkeley is home to the veggie-centric movement and Alice Waters, the pioneer for locally grown, California cuisine, and we are thrilled to serve our plant-based food to its community."

Veggie Grill’s menu features food free of animal products, antibiotics, and hormones created from only veggies, fruits, grains, seeds and/or nuts. It changes its menu seasonally and also features pioneering plant-based products, including Beyond Meat that mimics the look and taste of beef, and Just Egg, which scrambles and tastes like real egg, according to the release.

Veggie Grill has 31 locations in California, Oregon, Washington and Illinois, and plans to expand across the nation in 2018-2019
