Veggie burger heats up Cali

Luna Grill's new Organic Veggie Burger is so popular that the restaurant sold out of them three times in the first week of opening its Hillcrest location in San Diego.

The burger is a third-pound vegan patty made with organic ingredients, including soy beans, brown rice, red and green peppers, corn, carrots, oats and onions served on a gourmet hamburger bun and topped with hummus or spicy Cilantro hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. It has 4 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein.

"We are really excited about our new organic veggie burger because we know our customers love the nutritious variety our menu offers, especially with this new veggie burger," said Maria Pourteymour, chief cuisine officer.

Luna Grill, owned by Premier Food Concepts LLC, has headquarters in San Diego. Other Luna Grill locations in California include Carmel Valley, Freemont, Carlsbad, Chula Vista and Point Loma.
