Uncle Maddio’s Pizza is once again expanding in the Atlanta, Georgia area with its first unit in Smyrna by experienced restaurant operators Mike and Cjgie-Mcgaha Dickey to open on July 10.

The Atlanta-based build-your-own pizza concept will open at 4340 East-West Connector South Cobb Drive in the Old Ivy Village. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for July 11 featuring free 9-inch, build-your-own, three-topping pizzas from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The opening is the 13the Uncle Maddio’s restaurant in the Atlanta-area. There are now 33 Uncle Maddio’s locations in 14 states, with 14 units planned for the metro-area in the next five years. Uncle Maddio’s opened in Newnan in June and will open in Loganville, Ga., later this summer.

"Our pizza concept started right here in Atlanta and this is where we will always call home," said Matt Andrew, CEO of Uncle Maddio’s. "We want all Atlantans and nearby Atlantans to know our name and love our food, and we are committed to growing our presence in the surrounding communities."

The expansion illustrates the intense and increasing popularity of the fast casual pizza concept, which is the focus of a recent webinaravailable for viewing.

Mike Dickey has more than 25 years in the restaurant industry, 15 of which were spent managing restaurants for Darden. Cajgie Mcgaha-Dickey also has a long restaurant career, working for 20 years as a general manager and in human resources for Applebee’s.

“Besides the great-tasting food, we were so impressed by the speed of growth and success of the brand that we knew we had to sign on,” said Mike Dickey. "We know Atlantans love Uncle Maddio’s and we can’t wait to meet our new guests in Smyrna."

Since launching its growth plan in 2008, Uncle Maddio's has signed franchise agreements with 55 different entities in 18 states. Uncle Maddio's is on track to have 300 restaurants open in five years with 1,000 units in development and is opening units every 10 days.
