The parent company of Uncle Maddio's Pizza, Integrity Brands, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection late last week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Atlanta. The pizza chain has $1 million to $10 million in liabilities and under $50,000 in assets, as well as only a few Georgia locations still operating, according to the filing, which also said that 36 chain locations closed. The 10-year-old pizza chain was founded by former Moe's Southwest Grill President Matthew Andrew.
"We filed Chapter 11 to allow us to reorganize and recapitalize the balance sheet with new investment and rework the debt," Andrew said in an interview with FastCasual. "We are 30 locations strong and we will reignite the growth engines once we reemerge."
According to Tomorrow's News Today Atlanta —ToNeTo Atlanta — most of the 10 operational locations are in metro-Atlanta, including stores in Tucker, Smyrna and Acworth.
In the filing, Uncle Maddio's said that it had between 50 and 99 creditors, while the company owed money to the Georgia Department of Revenue, an Atlanta law firm and several landlords, among others.
