Uber Eats aims to cover 70 percent of U.S. by year's end

October 23, 2018

Uber Eats, with the rollout of additional cities this week, is aiming to cover 70 percent of the U.S. population by year's end.

The latest rollout was accompanied with the introduction of a self-signup tool to get restaurants on the service.

"We can’t wait to invite restaurants in these cities to leverage the speed of Uber Eats to reach new customers. As part of this roll out, we're also announcing a new self-signup tool, so as Uber Eats becomes available in these new U.S. cities, restaurants can upload their menus, get set-up and started doing deliveries quicker than before," stated an email release from Uber Eats.

The new expansion will double its U.S. city count up from the end of 2017, noted a company blog post. The company's September order volume was 10 times larger compared to 2016.

Uber Eats is expanding in Canada, France, Mexico, Japan and India — all markets where its ride-sharing business exists. But it is also launching in markets where ride-sharing is smaller, including some of this week's added U.S. suburban markets and smaller towns. The blog noted that 40 percent of Uber Eats users this year have been brand new customers.
