Tyson announces organization changes

Move Designed to Enhance People Development & Succession Planning

SPRINGDALE, Ark., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE:TSN) is implementing changes in its management structure designed to enhance leadership development and succession planning, company officials reported today. The changes include modifications in the structure of some of the senior management teams that report to the company's top three executives, Chairman and CEO John Tyson, President and Chief Operating Office Dick Bond, and Chief Administrative Officer and International President Greg Lee. The company will begin phasing in the changes immediately with completion expected by October 1. "We firmly believe these changes will result in a more effective management structure for our company and enhance our ongoing people development efforts," said John Tyson. "These modifications are the result of our internal organization development process, as well as consultation with our board of directors." John Tyson, Chairman and CEO Dick Bond and Greg Lee will continue to report to John Tyson, as will the following: * Al Gonzalez-Pita - Executive Vice President and General Counsel * Dennis Leatherby - Senior Vice President, Finance and Treasurer and interim Chief Financial Officer * Archie Schaffer - Senior Vice President, External Relations. * Ken Kimbro - Senior Vice President, Human Resources * Jeri Dunn - Senior Vice President, Information Technology In addition, Donnie Smith has been added as a direct report to John Tyson. Smith is now Senior Vice President of Project Won, a program focused on business process changes to support the company's strategic initiatives. He has previously served as the company's Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management. Dick Bond, President and Chief Operating Officer Dick Bond's direct reports will now include: * Bill Lovette has been named Senior Group Vice President of Poultry and Prepared Foods. His direct reports will include Wendy Davidson, who has been named to take Lovette's current position as Group Vice President, Food Service. Others reporting to Lovette will include: * Chris Daniel, Senior Vice President, Allied Products * A Group Vice President for Consumer Products will be named after a review of internal and external candidates. * Noel White has been named Group Vice President, Fresh Meats Operations and Commodity Sales effective October 1. He replaces Gene Leman who will remain in an advisory role until he retires on January 31, 2006. White is currently Senior Vice President of Fresh Meats Sales and Marketing. * Jim Lochner has been named to the new position of Senior Group Vice President, Margin Optimization, Purchasing and Logistics. He has been serving as Group Vice President of Purchasing. Reporting to Lochner will be: * Jean Beach - Senior Vice President, Commodity Trading and Risk Management, Price Optimization and Meat Procurement * Joey White - Vice President, Poultry/Prepared Foods, Production Planning & Inventory Management * Tim McGovern, Vice President, Warehouse & Distribution * Ray Hollingsworth - Vice President, Fresh Meats, Production Planning and Inventory Management * Senior Vice President, Purchasing (Open) * Also reporting to Bond will be Mike Baker, Group Vice President, Technical Services.
