Tropical Smoothie Café has signed franchise agreements to open three restaurants in Dallas as part of the chain's growth plans for the state of Texas, according to a company press release. The chain opened its first three units in the state last year, and and a fourth café is slated to open in the next several months at 4940 State Hwy 121 in Lewisville.
The three new Dallas cafés will be family-owned, led by Calei and Kodei Kesterson, along with their parents Thomas and Darci.
"Tropical Smoothie Café has a reputation for creating delicious, better-for-you food and smoothies that make it easy for consumers to make health-conscious decisions even while on the go, and it was important to us to join a company that is committed to making healthier food accessible and affordable," said Thomas Kesterson, Tropical Smoothie Café franchisee. "Dallas is a thriving community chock-full of potential for successful business endeavors, and we're thrilled to be a part of the company's growing presence throughout the area. We have no doubt that as more and more Dallas residents are introduced to the Tropical Smoothie Café concept, the community will count itself among the restaurant's passionate following with consumers nationwide."
Tropical Smoothie Café is looking to add qualified franchisees to its growing brand, according to the release. Candidates should have business experience; $125,000 in liquid assets and a minimum net worth of $350,000; and an initial investment of between $195,550 and $427,130. The healthy fast food franchise currently boasts an average unit volume (AUV) of more than $578,000 — the highest in the company's 19-year history — with the top 50 percent reporting an AUV of $734,000. The brand is backed by entrepreneurs at the BIP Franchise Accelerator, a division of venture capital firm BIP Capital, which invested in the brand in 2010, according to the release.
