Togo's signs multi-unit agreement in Arizona

October 16, 2013

Togo's Eateries Inc. has signed a development agreement with a new franchise group to open three restaurants in the Greater Phoenix area. The franchisees will develop three restaurants in Ahwatukee, Tempe and Avondale, Ariz., throughout the next two to three years.

This new development is part of the sandwich chain's plan to grow its footprint in new markets in Arizona and throughout the West.

"We're thrilled to continue our expansion in Arizona and provide our franchisees with the best franchise opportunity in the sandwich category," said Tony Gioia, chairman and CEO of Togo's Holdings LLC. "With the recent launch of our royalty incentive program for new multi-unit franchise agreements, Togo's is poised for tremendous growth over the coming years."

First-time franchisees George Ayoub, Abdou Ayoub and Ramzi Georges are planning to open their first restaurant in Ahwatukee in first quarter of 2014.

Currently, Togo's has one location in Gilbert, Ariz., a second opening in Tempe in the next month and seven additional franchised units in development in the state, including two in Yuma that are scheduled to open in 2014 and 2015.

Also this week, Togo's announced it is hosting a grand opening of its newest company-owned restaurant in Berkeley, Calif.

To celebrate, Togo's will raise funds for the Berkeley Food & Housing Project, an organization dedicated to "easing and ending the crisis of homelessness for men, women and children in the Berkeley community," according to a news release. During the first week of operation, guests will receive a free, 6-inch sandwich with every $2 donation made to the charity.

Togo's will provide other special offers to guests including their choice of cookie, brownie or gelato from next door at Almare Gelato, during the second week of operation. During the third week, any guest who purchases a 9-inch sandwich will receive a free 20 oz. drink.
