Bringing the flavors of Mexico to New York and New Jersey since 2009, The Taco Truck will do the same in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The state's first location will open Tuesday at the King of Prussia Mall, according to a company press release.
"We have been looking at the Philadelphia area for quite some time,” Jason Scott, CEO and co-founder of The Taco Truck, said in the release. "Once we heard the lineup of operators they were going to bring to Savor King of Prussia (the mall's food court), it felt like a natural launching pad for our Pennsylvania expansion."
The mall's designated dining areas for The Taco Truck are anchored by a larger than life replica of the signature orange taco truck logo, perched above diners' heads. The outpost also includes a vertical spit rotisserie, which allows The Taco Truck's Al Pastor menu items to be prepared and served in the traditional manner — slow-cooked on the rotisserie and cut straight from the vertical spit, according to the release.
The Taco Truck was born from Scott's and Chris Viola's travels through Mexico and passion for the fresh and flavorful taqueria fare they encountered throughout the country. Noting the lack of authentic Mexican cuisine in the northeast, the concept started as a food truck that roamed the streets of New Jersey. The brand has since expanded to include three brick-and-mortar stores, carts and kiosks, in addition to the original food truck, according to the release.
