Thai Express opening in North Carolina

Thai Express, a Canadian restaurant franchise that provides made-to-order Thai food cooked in front of customers, has signed a multi-unit development agreement to bring the chain to North Carolina. Husband-and-wife Dipin and Neetu Chellani are opening three units in the Charlotte area over the next three years, bringing more than 40 jobs to the area. The first store will open by the end of the year.

"With Thai Express' focus on create-your-own, fresh, Thai menu items, it's a brand new type of fast casual restaurant in Charlotte," said John Wuycheck, SV President of Franchise Development. "We are confident in the Chellanis as franchise owners, and we're thrilled to see the brand enter into the new market of Queen City."

Dipin Chellani brings a background in finance, and Neetu Chellani is already well versed in franchising; she owns a successful Kumon children's learning center franchise in Charlotte. In addition to introducing Thai Express to North Carolina, the couple has plans to co-brand one of their locations with Ginger Sushi + Poke Shop, another brand that originated in Canada, according to the release.  

Thai Express, which was founded in 2004, now has more than 300 locations and is expanding throughout the U,S
