Colorado-based Teriyaki Madness, which has over 130 locations, has been on a growth spurt this year, opening 10 locations and seeing a 21% year-over-year systemwide sales increase. Achieving a franchise average unit volume of $1,105,186, the chain's catering sales have also skyrocketed 159% year-over-year, according to CEO Michael Haith.

"We are thrilled with our mid-year momentum and the incredible growth we've experienced so far in 2023," he said in a company press release. "Our success is a testament to the strength of our brand, the dedication of our franchisees and our commitment to delivering a superior customer experience."

Fueled by the momentum, Teriyaki Madness has also introduced Flybuy to enhance its advanced pickup, delivery and curbside programs. Integrated into its app, This technology is part of Teriyaki Madness's vision to be "Faster Than a Drive Thru" and to allow franchisees to improve the overall customer experience.

"Our introduction of Flybuy is a game-changer for our brand," Haith said in the release. "We make fresh, made-to-order food in small neighborhood locations, so this technology is our solution to providing the convenience that our customers crave. We are committed to meeting our customers' increasing expectations for advanced technology to make their lives better, and Flybuy helps us achieve that goal."

The team has also spent the first half of the year making significant strides in optimizing profitability through operations for franchisees, with improvements in P&Ls, labor scheduling, product making, communication and team training through the company's Mad U online training platform.

"We're always focused on making it more profitable to be a TMAD franchisee," Haith said. "Our improvements in these areas have not only made it simpler for our franchisees to run their businesses, but they have also helped us attract new franchisees and current franchisees expand their markets."
