Teriyaki Madness expands outside Vegas

June 4, 2013

Merely three months after announcing an aggressive growth strategy to expand outside of its Las Vegas hub, Teriyaki Madness is walking the "wok." The fast casual Asian restaurant concept recently signed agreements for 20 new locations throughout California, Texas, Colorado and Nevada.

"The demand is a testament to the investment in infrastructure we have built as a franchisor and is really a validation for us that people are looking at our concept and our unit-level economics and seeing it as profitable and simple franchise opportunity," said Rod Arreola, co-founder and CEO of Teriyaki Madness.

Teriyaki Madness boasts an unconventional style in the growing Asian-dining market segment, promising a customer experience that is "fresh, fulfilling, and fits your life," Arreola said. The model has clearly struck a chord with customers, with an impressive average 23 percent year-over-year same-store-sales (SSS) growth among franchisees, compared to an industry-wide average of fewer than 4 percent.

With an investment of $225,000 to $358,000, Teriyaki Madness has average unit volumes of $855,000 and profitability of 16 percent to 21 percent. In fact, the success of the current franchisees has inspired each to pursue additional stores, Arreola said.

"This is really just the beginning," added Arreola. "After eight years of proving the concept and building the team it is great to see the excitement from franchise candidates who have experienced the madness for themselves in Nevada. They see the volume of customers and have been raving fans of the food themselves. That being said, I truly believe this concept really fits anywhere and everywhere."
