Teriyaki Madness has launched what it says is the first fully AI-generated ad campaign in the fast casual restaurant industry, a move the company said slashes production costs and accelerates creative output.
The ad campaign, created in partnership with Genre.ai, features AI-generated performers, settings, props and special effects. The only thing that isn't artificial, according to the company, is the food.
"We'd never fake our food," Teriyaki Madness Chief Marketing Officer Jodi Boyce said in a press release. "This campaign is pure, over-the-top madness, and we're here for it."
The AI-driven ads are scheduled to run from late October through Dec. 14 on platforms including Connected TV, Meta and YouTube. Premium inventory includes networks such as Adult Swim, Comedy Central, ESPN and Netflix.
According to the company, the partnership with Genre.ai has reduced production costs to a fraction of a traditional agency spot. The savings on talent usage fees and faster turnaround times have freed up more of the budget for media buys.
"Normally, brands are pretty conservative when it comes to their use of AI," Genre.ai CEO PJ Accetturo said in the release. "But they dove headfirst into our craziest possibilities and gave us some hilarious ideas that made the final cut."
Teriyaki Madness, which has nearly 200 locations in 41 states, has a history of adopting new technology, including being the first to introduce GPS-enabled curbside pickup and embracing mobile ordering in 2017.
"Genre.ai gave us the freedom to take creative risks we've only dreamed of before," Boyce said in the release.
