Teriyaki Madness has appointed industry veteran Scott Shotter as its chief restaurant officer. Shotter joins the Denver-based fast casual chain as it prepares to open 45 locations and projects 20% systemwide growth this year. Shotter will oversee operations for both corporate and franchised locations, managing training, field support, technology and the supply chain.
The move is part of a broader effort to bolster the brand's leadership infrastructure as it expands across the United States and into El Salvador. Teriyaki Madness operates nearly 200 locations in 40 states.
Shotter brings over than 35 years of experience to the position. Before joining Teriyaki Madness, he served as chief operating officer at Fuzzy's Taco Shop. His previous executive roles include president of Condado Tacos, CEO of Back Yard Burgers, and vice president of operations at Moe's Southwest Grill. During his tenure at Moe's, he helped the brand grow from 200 to more than 700 locations.
CEO Michael Haith said Shotter's experience with scaling franchise systems made him the right fit for the company's current growth trajectory.
"He's built, scaled and refined high-performing restaurant systems across multiple brands, but what sets him apart is how he balances the business side with a genuine obsession for guest experience," Haith said in a company press release.
Shotter said his primary focus will be strengthening the "operational backbone" of the company to assist franchisees in maintaining consistency and profitability.
"Teriyaki Madness has built something truly special, a franchise system that scales without losing its authenticity," Shotter said in the release.
Founded in 2003, Teriyaki Madness specializes in Seattle-style teriyaki bowls featuring grilled proteins, rice, noodles and vegetables.
