To celebrate National Taco Day, Velvet Taco will partner with Rebel Muse Tattoo, in Dallas, to offer free, taco-themed tattoos at its Greenville Avenue location on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The first customer to get a tattoo of the Velvet Taco brooch logo will receive free tacos for a year through the chain's rewards program. All Velvet Taco locations nationwide will give away temporary tattoos on the same day.

The event, 4-8 p.m., will take place in an Airstream trailer outside the restaurant. Three tattoo artists will ink designs from a custom flash sheet. Guests may begin lining up at 2 p.m.

"Our highly requested National Taco Day tattoo event perfectly captures the rebellious spirit of our brand and menu," Brooke Perry, Velvet Taco's vice president of marketing, said in a press release. "A Velvet Taco-inspired tattoo is the ultimate badge of honor."

The restaurant also will introduce the Japanese Katsu Curry taco, the winning creation from a guest in College Station who won this year's WTF (Weekly Taco Feature) Recipe Contest. The taco includes panko tenders, Japanese curry, pickled daikon and carrots, buttered cilantro basmati rice, pickled Fresno chiles, scallions and furikake.

Velvet Taco will also run a "Taco Week Challenge" for loyalty members Oct. 5-11. Members who buy a taco during the week will get a free taco reward on Oct. 13, redeemable through Oct. 17.

In addition, the chain will host an Instagram giveaway Oct. 7-10, awarding gift cards to 15 winners in other markets for a taco tattoo of their choice.
