Diversified Restaurant Group, which owns nearly 300 Taco Bells, is opening its first Kansas City Taco Bell Cantina, a fast casual version of the brand that serves alcoholic beverages, including mixed drinks, wine, sangria, up to 12 different beers on tap and its Twisted Baja Blast Freezes.

"Cantina locations set themselves apart from our traditional Taco Bell restaurants with their design and menus and we are thrilled to bring this cool fun vibe to Kansas City," Tom Douglas, COO of Diversified Restaurant Group, said in a company press release. "The Westport area is a community that is a great fit for this concept with their unique entertainment and dining options. We are looking forward to celebrating our newest location with our neighbors in greater Kansas City."

DRG, which has four cantinas in California and one in Las Vegas, is hosting a grand opening celebration Friday, featuring Taco Bell eats, Royals KCrew, DJ Hydan, Mac the Maverick and giveaways.

The Kansas City Taco Bell Cantina has a sports bar-themed concept with a heated patio, 19 TVs and three private rooms.

Diversified Restaurant Group is the second-largest Taco Bell franchisee in the world.
