Sweetgreen rolling out drive-thru prototype

provided

March 24, 2022

Sweetgreen is on board with drive-thru service, opening its first location within the next year. Dubbed "sweetlane," the concept will debut in Schaumburg, Illinois, allowing customers to place orders in advance via the brand's digital platform. Nearly 50% of total revenue in 2021 came through orders placed on the chain's mobile app or website, according to a company press release.

The space will feature a round observation window for customers in their cars to watch employees crate their food, bringing the in-store experience to the drive-thru digital customers. Pickup orders may also be placed inside the restaurant, where dine-in service will be available.

"We are always innovating to provide more convenience for our customers, which is why we're excited about our first sweetlane concept in Schaumburg," Co-founder and Chief Concept Officer, Nicolas Jammet said in the release. "Digital customers are our most habitual users and we believe this new format will provide us with more options to connect people to real food."

Based in Los Angeles, Sweetgreen has over 150 locations.
