Sweetgreen offering discounted salad 'scripts

Los Angeles Sweetgreen, a past winner of the Fast Casual Top 100 Movers & Shakers, is jumping on the subscription bandwagon via Sweetpass. With a $10 subscription, a customer will receive $3 off each $9.95 purchase (or more) per day when ordered from the app or website.

"It's an optimal time of year because of new year's resolutions and the food that Sweetgreen sells," Daniel Shlossman, Sweetgreen's senior vice president of digital and growth, told CNN Business.

Customers may purchase Sweetpasses through Jan. 16. The deal is valid at all 140 locations 30 days after the initial purchase but can't be applied on third-party apps.

Sweetpass replaces the chain's loyalty program, which previously gave customers $9 off when their total spend amounted to $99. The new program is "part of a broader evolution of loyalty and what that means for Sweetgreen," Schlossman said.

Nearly 50% of Sweetgreen's Q3 2021 sales came through its own digital channels, including app, website or people ordering in-person and using the scan-to pay-option, according to the company.

Sweetgreen did not respond to FastCasual's request for comment.
