Survey finds diners still spending, but less

January 20, 2009

Business First of Louisville: A survey by Norcross, Ga.-based hospitality research firm A Closer Look has found that Americans are still heading to restaurants in the recession, but they are spending less for meals. The online survey found that:
  • Ninety-eight percent of consumers were eating out or ordering take-out at least once a week.
  • Forty three percent said they are spending less than they did a year earlier.
  • Fifty-four percent redeemed both dine-in and take-out coupons recently, with nearly one-third using coupons more during the second half of 2008 compared with the first half of the year.
