Sunshine State beams brightly on Uncle Maddio's

May 9, 2016

Uncle Maddio's is growing its flock of Florida restaurants, opening its 50th national franchise in Orlando over the weekend, according to a company press release.

"Florida is a state we have been developing for years, so it's only appropriate we open our 50th location in Orlando," said Uncle Maddio's CEO and founder Matt Andrew. "We already have restaurants in Panama City, Jacksonville, Ocala, Tallahassee, and we will open in Pensacola later this year. Our investment in Florida continues to grow and we are optimistic about the opportunities to come."

The new location in East Orlando open the doors Friday with a free lunch-time build-your-own pizza offer. Over the weekend, the chain also ran contests to give away everything from a year of free pizza to $50,000 through a code-guessing game to open a "dough vault."

The Orlando location is the third opened by husband-and-wife team Mike and Alicia Holmes. The couple also operates the brand's No. 1 sales unit in Tallahassee.

Uncle Maddio's is on track to have 250 restaurants open in five years, according to a press release, which also says the franchise has 1,000 units under development. Currently, Uncle Maddio's operates 50 locations in 15 states that serve 5 million pies a year, according to the release.
