An affiliate of Sun Capital Partners has acquired HuHot Mongolian Grill's largest franchisee, according to a company press release.
"The development plan for HuHot has always been strategic and steady," said Molly Vap O’Shea, chief brand officer at HuHot. "In an industry where the appetite in the market is to acquire high-performing restaurant units, the Sun Capital acquisition proves that our model is working. We are excited to welcome Sun Capital to our family and look forward to helping them support their aggressive growth plans for the HuHot concept."
In the last 12 months, HuHot has experienced more franchise interest than ever before, O’Shea said.
"We take pride in providing full support to our franchises; from concept evolution to cutting-edge marketing tactics, our family-owned business continues to make decisions with the franchisees and the success of the brand equally in mind," she said. "We contribute our success to our business model, the great relationships we develop, and the fact that franchise scale has reached a point where economics are well understood."
HuHot currently has 57 locations, with more than six restaurants slated to open this year, according to the release.
