Summer menu debuts at Bruegger's Bagels

May 9, 2013

Bruegger's Bagels is debuting a summer menu unlike any others with new flavors that are bold, spicy, sweet and savory, said executive Chef Philip Smith. The items are now available in all 300-plus bagel bakeries and include:

The Sriracha Egg Sandwich — featuring Sriracha sauce, hot chili sauce named the "coolest condiment on the table" by The Huffington Post. The spicy new sandwich is available all day and is made on a plain bagel (or the guest's choice of any of Bruegger's 15-plus varieties of authentic New York-style bagels) with egg, sausage, cheddar cheese, fresh red peppers and finished with a kick of Sriracha sauce. The unique taste of the Vietnamese-inspired sauce, which is a combination of red chilies, vinegar and sugar, is also available upon request on other Bruegger's Bagels menu items.

The Morning Glory Bagel — featuring apple butter folded into the simple bagel dough, along with shredded carrots, raisins, sunflower seeds and cinnamon. For a taste evocative of a traditional Morning Glory muffin, Chef Smith suggests topping this bagel with Bruegger's Bagel's plain cream cheese. But many of the bakery's cream cheese flavors — all 100-percent made in-Vermont — complement the bagel with its combination of fruit and flavor, he said.

The Blue Apple Salad — made on a bed of spring lettuce, is served with Bruegger's Bagels new Champagne Vinaigrette dressing, which complements the sweet combination of chicken, dried cranberries, sliced almonds and diced apples, topped with blue cheese crumbles.

Chicken Almond Salad — tossed with diced chicken, almonds, cucumber, Asiago cheese and chopped red bell pepper, a new addition to the bakery chain's list of ingredients. The salad will be topped with a Tangy Olive Oil dressing made with olive oil, feta cheese and red wine.

The limited-time offerings are available through Sept. 10.
