STL airport welcomes new burger concept

June 13, 2013

Custom-crafted burgers are at the heart of a new concept that recently opened at Lambert-St.Louis International Airport in Concourse A. Grounded In St. Louis was developed by HMSHost for Lambert to offer an upscale menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads and breakfast with a counter-service platform for quick and convenient take out, said Lambert Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge.

"Grounded In is the perfect fit for Lambert because in today's travel, many passengers don't have the time for full sit-down service," Hamm-Niebruegge said. "The counter concept here allows passengers to quickly order, then grab and go to eat at the gate or take on the plane."

The menu is all made to order with custom-grounded burgers in the spotlight with options like the Cholula, a one-third pound burger with hot sauce, pepper jack cheese on brioche roll; the Cubano, a one-third pound burger with Cherrywood ham, Swiss cheese on a brioche roll or the Sunrise, a one-third pound burger topped with cheddar, bacon and a sunny side up egg. The burgers feature sides, including French fries with sea salt, sweet potato fries or battered onion rings with assorted dips.

Breakfast options include egg sandwiches, the "Chix Deluxe" (grilled chicken breakfast sandwich) or yogurt, fruit and granola. The menu also features premium ice cream milkshakes with a variety of toppings.
