Starbucks to expand Georgia plant, support military

July 10, 2017

Starbucks shelled out $120 million to double the size of its Augusta Soluble Plant in Georgia, creating nearly 100 new jobs and adding 140,000 square feet to the site. The project will be completed in 2019, according to a press release.

"With this facility expansion, Starbucks will continue to enjoy the benefits of manufacturing ... while creating new jobs in the Augusta area, including additional opportunities for veterans," Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said in the release.

The new job openings call for experienced employees, many with military backgrounds, according to Plant Director Tim Filipowski.

"Because of the technical nature of our business here, we have recruited heavily for automation specialists, operators, mechanics and technicians," he said in the release. "Generally, the folks coming out of the service have some or all of those experiences."
