Starbucks reverses vaccination requirement

Starbucks' 200,000 workers won't have to show proof of vaccination for COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing, a reversal of the company's policy outlined two weeks ago.

The decision comes after the Supreme Court's ruling to block the Biden administration's mandate for private employers with over 100 employees to require vaccination or weekly proof of negative status, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Starbucks Chief Operating Officer John Culver said the chain will still encourage baristas to get vaccinated and boosted and to disclose their status.

"We continue to believe strongly in the spirit and intent of the mandate," Culver said in a memo to employees.

As of press time, Starbucks had not returned request for comment.
