Starbucks' petition drive to end the shutdown nears 2M signatures

Starbucks Coffee Company has garnered nearly 2 million signatures for its petition drive asking leaders in Washington, D.C., to end the shutdown and pay the country's debts on time.

The company released the following statement about its "Come Together" petition:

Petitions are continuing to arrive from Starbucks' nearly 7,000 company-operated stores in the U.S. As of 3 pm PT (Tuesday) the number of signatures is approaching 2 million. (Today), Starbucks will deliver collected petitions to Congress and the President. More petitions are expected to arrive over the next few days from other organizations and the remainder of Starbucks' company-operated stores. The company would like to thank our partners (employees), our customers and the other companies and organizations that have joined the effort including AOL, Caterpillar, Marriott and a host of non-profit organizations.
