Starbucks opens in Monaco

December 16, 2013

Starbucks celebrated the opening of its first store last week in Monaco in partnership with Tar.Ca. The store is inside the Jardins d'Apolline at 1 Promenade Honoré II in the Monte Carlo municipality, according to a company press release.

The principality's store has been designed uniquely for its iconic location and is inspired by the Cote d'Azur's landscapes, with Monaco's emblematic mountainside and back gardens of exotic plants echoing Starbucks coffee farms and origins, according to the release. The store will welcome up to 78 customers inside and 60 outside on the terrace.

"Starbucks is thrilled to now offer high-quality coffee and the unique Starbucks Experience in Monaco thanks to our partnership with Tar.Ca," said Matt Sikes, vice president Business Development Starbucks EMEA. "We are grateful to Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco for their warm welcome."

"After years of anticipation, we are so excited to see our first Starbucks store in Monaco come into being. We have already received an overwhelming response from the community," said Kory Tarpenning, director of Tar.Ca. "Working with Starbucks has been a very positive experience, and we have great respect for the ethics and values of the company as well as the product itself."

The store in Monaco boasts a comprehensive product offering, including high quality, ethically sourced coffees and Fairtrade espresso roast. The range of food items offers a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and snack items like muffins and other pastries, sandwiches and desserts.
