Starbucks CEO told employees via memo last week that corporate layoffs and a variety of other changes were coming soon in an effort to increase slowing sales, according to an article today in Bloomberg.
"We must increase the velocity of innovation that is relevant to our customers, inspires our partners, and is meaningful to our business," Chief Executive Officer Kevin Johnson said in the memo to employees viewed by Bloomberg News. "To accomplish this, we are going to make some significant changes to how we work as leaders in all areas of the company."
The leadership and organizational changes have already started but will carry into November, Johnson said.
As of press time, Starbucks did not return a request for comment from FastCasual, but a spokeswoman told Bloomberg that the changes will include an undetermined number of layoffs and include some employee shifts between company departments.
