Starbird, the brainchild of San Francisco-based innovation agency The Culinary Edge Ventures, opened the doors today to its second standalone location in San Jose, California.
Founders Aaron Noveshen, Stephen Goldmann and Steven Goldstein formed TCEV to be an incubator for revolutionary dining concepts, and Starbird is its first launched concept, according to a company press release. An additional outpost in Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium followed the brand's flagship Sunnyvale location.
Starbird brings the next generation of drive-thru to today's technologically-driven diners, Noveshen said in the release, using the brand's proprietary app to eliminates the traditional car queue model. Instead, diners order and pay for items using the app. They also use the app to alert employees when they arrive to pick up their orders.
"At Starbird, we have transformed the traditional fast food landscape to offer 'super premium fast food' that uses high-quality ingredients and evolves the traditional drive-thru experience with mobile ordering and a car-side delivery app," he said. "The response from the community has been extremely positive and we are thrilled to expand to a larger audience in the heart of Silicon Valley."
Starbird is backed by an investor group made up of several restaurant CEOs and private equity individuals including the largest outside investor, industry veteran Greg Dollarhyde of Zoe's Kitchen, Veggie Grill and Blaze Pizza.
