Square 1 Burgers trades burgers for social smooches

Square 1 Burgers & Bar is hoping to spread some love with a new campaign that will have cameras snapping and lips puckering all over Florida's West-Central Coast, according to a company press release.

The chain is giving buy-one-get-one free burgers to any guest that snaps a smooch photo at the restaurant on Valentine's Day and posts it to the Square 1 Facebook Wall or tags @Square1Burgers on Instagram. The photo can be taken with significant others, children, family members or puppies, according to a company press release. The campaign theme of "Give Awesome a Kiss" is a play off the Square 1 mascot, which is a cow named Awesome.

Square 1 Burgers is the brainchild of restaurateurs Joanie Corneil and Bill Shumate. In 2006, they began developing an Oklahoma-based concept for a burger restaurant in Tampa and named it "Square 1 Burgers & Bar." Since their flagship South Tampa store opened in 2008, other stores have appeared in Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Brandon and St. Pete.

Square 1 Burgers features an extensive menu featuring Meyer's 100-percent angus burgers, chicken, turkey, vegetarian, and more exotic selections like turkey, duck, crab, venison, kobe, buffalo and salmon burgers, according to the release.
