PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. — Fast casual concept Spiedie Bistro, which opened in July, has added a new sandwich to its menu.
The Felson, Spiedie Bistro's version of the cheesesteak, is made with either chicken or organic bison. Like the traditional cheesesteak, there are a variety of toppings to choose from, including mushrooms, onions, peppers, provolone cheese or American cheese.
Spiedie Bistro evolved from the spiedie (SPEE-dee), which is the Italian word "spiedo," meaning spit. The traditional sandwich, made with marinated lamb, pork, beef, or chicken, was skewered and grilled over a spit, hence the name.
