Soul & Smoke opening in Chicago events center

Soul & Smoke, purveyors of barbecue and comfort food in Chicago, is opening a walk-up eatery this week at Rockwell on the River, an events space in Chicago.

Soul & Smoke's Avondale ghost kitchen will also move to the location, making it the first food merchant at Rockwell on the River. The space will be a counter-order concept with indoor and outdoor seating available, according to a company press release.

The restaurant will serve Executive Chef D'Andre Carter's slow-roasted, smoked meats including prime brisket, rib tips and pulled pork as well as mac 'n' cheese, collard greens and house-made pickles. It will also serve custom-made Beer for The Soul created by Sketchbook Brewery.

"What goes better with boats and sunshine than BBQ and beer; it's the definition of summertime Chi," Carter said in the release. "We're so excited to be joining the Rockwell on the River team and the family of other businesses within the community."

Soul & Smoke launched its first to-go location in Evanston in 2020 and has a residency at Time Out Market, as well as a retail BBQ sauce line in all 44 Mariano's grocery stores and a food truck that travels to the city.
