Smoothie King opens 700th store

Smoothie King plans to open more than 1,000 stores across the United States over the next 3 years.

Smoothie King marked the opening of its 700th store on Sept. 18 with the opening of its Cedar Park, Texas, unit. The store is located at 909 E Whitestone Blvd.

"We realized that the new Cedar Park location was going to be our 700th store, so decided to celebrate the occasion the Smoothie King way, by incorporating fitness challenges and offering healthy smoothies to those in attendance," CEO Wan Kim said in a news release.

Children were challenged to participate in the "Smoothie King 700 Step Challenge." Participants were given a card to track their progress as they completed tasks throughout the week like drinking water, jumping rope or eating fruits and vegetables. Kids with completed cards can redeem them at any Smoothie King store for a free smoothie.

Smoothie King plans to open more than 1,000 stores across the United States over the next 3 years, with franchise opportunities currently available in the Southeast, mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, and Texas.

Five new stores are planned for Texas by the end of 2014, and 27 more in 2015.
