Smoothie King opening 25 Atlanta locations

January 28, 2014

Smoothie King Franchises Inc., is targeting Atlanta for franchise expansion. The company, which will unveil its new store design next month in South Florida, is aiming to open 25 new locations in the market over the next five years, according to a company press release.

The chain already has 44 locations in the Atlanta market with three locations planned to open in the next six months in Alpharetta, Suwanee and Buford. Smoothie King is currently seeking qualified franchisees to develop single- and multi-unit agreements in additional communities within the metro area, said Smoothie King Global CEO Wan Kim.

"Smoothie King has built a loyal following over the last 20 years since we opened our first location in Atlanta in 1994," he said. "With our new, refreshed brand image, pipeline of delicious, nutritional products that will be introduced in 2014, and four consecutive years of positive same-store sales, we are confident Smoothie King has great potential for further development in Atlanta and is a strong business opportunity for local entrepreneurs."

Local Smoothie King franchisee Seigfried Jones spent more than 17 years working in parks and recreation before opening his first Smoothie King Dec. 30 in Tyrone, Ga.

To further fuel Smoothie King's expansion in the Atlanta area, the company is actively seeking qualified franchisees and will hold a Discovery Day on Feb. 7.

Smoothie King plans to add 940 new franchised and corporate locations domestically over the next four years.
