Smoothie Factory eyes Arizona expansion with new store design

Smoothie Factory Juice Bar has awarded a multiunit development agreement to existing franchisee John Wilfert, of JW Health and Fitness LLC, to open seven more locations in Arizona.

The first location is under construction and will open at University of Arizona in Tucson this December. The store at 1031 N. Park Ave., Suite C, will debut a new store design for the chain, featuring more space and an expanded menu. The new store will serve the chain's signature smoothies and nutritional supplements in addition to a line of fresh cold-squeezed juices and Red Mango frozen yogurt.

Wilfert also plans to open his third location early next year, followed by five additional stores with sites to be determined.

"John has an incredible relationship with his employees and with die-hard Smoothie Factory customers in Tucson who only want the very best smoothies and freshest juices with the healthiest ingredients," Smoothie Factory President Miguel Foegal said in a news release. "This is a market that knows and demands a quality product, and that's exactly what separates Smoothie Factory from the field."

Foegal said the Arizona development agreement is part of an aggressive national franchising program at Smoothie Factory with plans to award 35 new locations in the next year.
