Smashburger to head to San Diego in 2010
October 28, 2009
Smashburger has announced it has partnered with Smash Bros LLC., a non-traditional retail and commercial development firm, to bring seven Smashburgers to San Diego over two years.
"My group looks forward to bringing these incredible burgers to our hometown, San Diego," David Whisenhunt, co-founder of Smash Bros LLC's partner company Elkins-Whisenhunt, said.
Whisenhunt has worked with Starbucks, Quiznos and Jamba Juice.
The agreement also marks one of several Smashburger has signed in recent months to franchise the concept nationwide. In September, they announced a deal with Klepper Capital Group to open seven locations for Oklahoma City; in August, announced a deal with SB LLC to open 20 locations throughout Las Vegas and Southern Utah; and in July, announced a deal to open 11 stores in the Chicago region.
In an article on the Web site Burger Business, Smashburger founder Tom Ryan dishes on the company's development, his favorite burger topping and one restaurant brand he believes does not get enough recognition (and it will surprise you).
