Smashburger to accelerate growth with new hire

February 23, 2010

Sacramento-Calif.-based Doug Branigan was recently named as the company's new senior vice president of Franchise Operations.

Branigan brings to Smashburger more than 25 years of restaurant operations experience in family dining, casual dining and fine dining establishments. Previously, he worked at Mimi's Cafe as the market partner for Sacramento and Nevada. Prior to Mimi's Cafe, he was the western VP of operations at Morton's, where he was responsible for more than 30 restaurants worldwide.

Branigan has also served as general manager and regional manager at Chart House Restaurants.

The company has sold franchise agreements that will total more than 275 locations over the next five years and Branigan will play an integral role in this expansion.

"Given Smashburger's expected growth and our continual goal of providing better burgers in communities across the country, there is no doubt our franchises are critical components for our company and its future," said Smashburger president Scott Crane. "Doug's expertise will help us ensure that Smashburger franchisees have the resources they need to excel, while staying true to the Smashburger brand."
