Smashburger opens second Calgary location

Smashburger is opening its second location in Calgary, Canada, on June 27, following the May 2012 launch of its first-ever Canadian restaurant, also in Calgary.

The location also will feature the regional Alberta-inspired menu, which includes items such as the Calgary Smashburger, Calgary chicken sandwich, and MacKay's milkshakes.

"Calgary has welcomed Smashburger with open arms and we have no doubt the excitement will continue with our second location," said David Prokupek, Smashburger chairman and CEO.

In honor of the grand opening, Smashburger will welcome some of the city's most prominent food writers and bloggers for a Stampede Burger Battle. Smashburger also will be giving away a year's worth of free burgers to one lucky visitor during the grand opening event. A ballot box is available onsite for entry and the winner will be drawn July 4.
