Smashburger is smashing its way to Egypt by signing Pearll Investment Group to open 25 units throughout the country over the next several years.

Smashburger is smashing its way to Egypt by signing Pearll Investment Group to open 25 units throughout the country over the next several years, according to a company press release.

"The Egypt communities are experiencing explosive growth and are perfect targets for our brand," said Scott Crane, CEO of Smashburger. "We feel confident the local community will embrace our customized, hand-crafted burgers."

Smashburger restaurants in Egypt will be led by Abdel Hameed Mostafa Ahmed, who has 10 years of experience in the fast casual industry.

Ready for Hollywood

The chain is also opening this month in Universal Studios, Hollywood at Universal CityWalk in California.

"We’re incredibly excited to bring Smashburger to Universal CityWalk, the perfect spot in Los Angeles to expose the brand to so many people," Crane said.

Since January this year Smashburger has added about 65 new restaurants and has seen 22 pecent new unit growth. Across the U.S., Kuwait, Canada, El Salvador, Panama, Costa Rica, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, there are currently over 330 total units.
