Smashburger will open its first Manhattan restaurant tomorrow next to the Empire State Building at 10 W. 33rd St., between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, according to a company press release. To celebrate the grand opening, the chain is inviting all NYC burger lovers to the new Manhattan location from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to receive a free Classic Smashburger.
"We are thrilled to debut Smashburger in Manhattan and bring our menu of premium smashed to order burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, signature sides and handspun Haagen-Dazs shakes to this culinary capital," said Scott Crane, president and CEO of Smashburger. "Our goal is to put great-tasting burgers back into people's lives, by serving fresh, all natural Certified Angus Beef smashed to order and topped with the freshest produce, a variety of real cheeses and a selection of buns. We could not be more proud to bring the Smashburger experience to those who work and play in Manhattan."
The new Empire State Smashburger will feature a menu specifically designed with regional flavors and taste preferences in mind, according to the release. The Manhattan menu includes the New Yorker, a local burger highlighting Smashburger's burger topped with New York Cheddar cheese, garlic grilled onions, spinach, tomato and peppercorn garlic aioli on a brioche bun.
The first Smashburger in Manhattan is owned by franchise group Smash Partners – Richard Greenstein, Eric and Ronnie Portnoy and Howard Novick – who also operate locations in Westchester County.
The 2,500 square-foot Manhattan Smashburger is designed with the concept's newest contemporary features from soft lighting and an open kitchen, to earthy materials like local reclaimed brick, in addition to bright colors and localized art which captures the spirit of New York City landmarks, Greenstein said. Smashburger's Manhattan restaurant will be the 10th location to open in the state of New York.
