Smashburger inks Iowa franchise deal

DENVER — Smashburger has announced that it has secured its eighth franchisee, Smashguys LLC, which will develop 16 locations throughout Iowa.The latest agreement brings the total number of Smashburger franchise locations to 167.

Smashguys has scouted numerous locations in Central Iowa, including Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, and plans to open its first restaurant by the end of 2009. The remaining restaurants will open across the region over the next four years.

In addition to the popular HuHot restaurant chain, Smashguys also owns four additional fast casual restaurant concepts.

Named for the cooking method used to create the burger, Smashburgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a top-quality selection of cheeses, produce and condiments. Sides include Smashfries and Veggie Frites, Smashchicken sandwiches, Smashdogs, Smash salads, Haagen Dazs milkshakes and malts, and beer and wine.
