June 27, 2010

"Better burger" chain Smashburger will open its first Shreveport, La., location on July 14, with a localized menu that features Cajun flavors. The restaurant is the first of two Shreveport-Bossier area Smashburgers slated to open over the next year.

Shreveport’s Smashburger will feature a regional menu created with regional flavors and tastes in mind, including:

  • Louisiana Smashburger featuring American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, Cajun grilled onions, remoulade sauce, lettuce and tomato on an egg bun
  • Louisiana Smashchicken featuring Crispy or tender, grilled chicken breast with American cheese, applewood smoked bacon, Cajun grilled onions, remoulade sauce, lettuce and tomato on an egg bun
  • Louisiana Smashdog featuring Cajun grilled onions, cheddar cheese and remoulade sauce on a 100-percent Angus beef hot dog
  • Häagen-Daz specialties including bread pudding milkshakes and malts, and crushed grape, orange and strawberry floats

“Louisiana’s unique local flavors, paired with Smashburger’s unique concept, offers something for everyone,” said Scott Quigley, Shreveport Sizzle Inc. partner. “The regional menu is sure to be a smash with Shreveport’s burger lovers.”

Known for the cooking method used to create the perfect burger, Smashburgers start at $3.99 with a one-fourth, one-third or half-pound ball of 100 percent Certified Angus Beef smashed on a flat grill to sear in superior juicy flavor. To further the “better burger” experience, Smashburgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a selection of flavorful cheeses, the freshest produce and top-quality condiments.
