The New York City borough of Brooklyn will get its first of three planned Smashburgers in May. Franchisee Jim Denburg will open the outlet in the Fort Greene neighborhood.
He is eyeing Brooklyn Heights, Downtown, Park Slope and Cobble Hill neighborhoods for his next two locations, according to the Brooklyn Paper.
Denburg said he is staying in the Brooklyn area because rent in Manhattan is significantly higher.
Currently, Brooklyn's burger joints include the Shake Shack, Five Guys and, soon, Cheeburger, Cheeburger.
Denver, Colo.-based Smashburger plans to open more than 200 locations nationwide by next year.
